Description
Tito Agnoli (1931‑2012) was a renowned Italian designer and architect, a key figure in mid-century modern design, celebrated for his lighting and furniture creations that combine elegance, functionality, and minimalist aesthetics. Born in Lima to an Italian family, Agnoli studied painting and later architecture at the Politecnico di Milano. He collaborated with many leading Italian brands, leaving a lasting legacy in industrial and high-end lighting design.
Agnoli’s collaboration with Oluce, the historic Italian lighting company founded in 1945, represents a cornerstone of his career. Together, they created lamps that have become iconic examples of Italian design, highly sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts.
Among his most celebrated works is the “Agnoli” table lamp, designed in 1954. This lamp features essential lines, minimalist geometry, and an adjustable light mechanism, blending functionality with refined aesthetics. Its nickel-plated metal structure, often combined with an elegant travertine base, showcases Agnoli’s mastery in fusing materials and innovative technology into poetic and timeless forms.
Beyond the Agnoli table lamp, Tito Agnoli designed wall and ceiling lamps for Oluce, including extendable models and pieces that combine wood, brass, and opaline glass, reflecting his sophisticated and experimental approach to lighting design.
The collaboration with Oluce solidified Tito Agnoli’s reputation as one of the most influential Italian designers of his era. His lamps remain highly collectible, featured in museums and cherished by vintage Italian design collectors worldwide.
