Description
Our two objects, one oval and one spherical, are inspired by the visionary artistic philosophy of Lucio Fontana and his revolutionary idea of space. They are not simple decorative forms, but open structures designed to interact with light, environment, and human perception. Like the works from the Concetto Spaziale series, these objects are conceived as dynamic presences that extend beyond their physical surface, creating a dialogue between matter, emptiness, and infinity. Their oval and spherical forms evoke cosmic bodies, futuristic sculptures, and abstract spatial design inspired by modern Italian art.
Lucio Fontana did not simply transform painting and sculpture; he introduced a completely new concept of artistic space. Through cuts, holes, and sculptural gestures, he opened the artwork toward an infinite dimension beyond matter itself. His iconic oval and spherical creations became symbols of movement, energy, and spatial exploration, anticipating contemporary art, futuristic interior design, and avant-garde sculpture.
The spherical and oval forms developed within the Concetto Spaziale vision appear timeless, almost extraterrestrial, like fragments of a future universe. Fontana imagined art as energy existing within space rather than as a traditional object confined by form. The purity of the sphere and the oval became visual expressions of transformation, balance, and cosmic harmony.
In Fontana’s artistic language, the surface is never closed. It is pierced, opened, and transformed to reveal an invisible dimension beyond what the eye can see. Space itself becomes the true subject of the artwork, creating an immersive visual experience that continues to influence contemporary sculpture, collectible design, and spatial art installations today.
Observing oval and spherical objects inspired by Fontana creates the feeling of encountering futuristic relics or sculptural elements from another dimension. Their soft curves and internal voids generate a powerful contrast between light and shadow, presence and absence, material and infinite space. This tension defines the enduring strength and modern relevance of Fontana’s revolutionary artistic vision.
