Description
Max Ingrand (1908–1993) was a leading figure in 20th-century Italian design and lighting, celebrated for his unique ability to combine luxury, elegance, and technical innovation. He was known for experimenting with transparent materials, colored glass, and advanced lighting systems, always creating designs that are functional, refined, and timeless.
After the death of Pietro Chiesa, founder of FontanaArte, Max Ingrand became the company’s director, guiding it to new heights as a symbol of artistic glass and designer lighting excellence. Under his leadership, FontanaArte produced now iconic and highly collectible pieces, including lamps, chandeliers, and glass wall sconces, all combining artisan craftsmanship, understated luxury, and innovative technology.
A key example of his visionary approach is the 1969 curved colored glass mirror, which blends modern, sculptural forms with expert craftsmanship. This piece is more than just furniture; it is a sculptural object that transforms interiors through its vibrant reflections and rich colors, perfectly illustrating Ingrand’s fusion of luxury, elegance, and design innovation.
Max Ingrand’s work continues to influence contemporary design, with a signature style defined by sophisticated luxury, harmonious forms, and innovative materials that convey timeless elegance and modern functionality.
