Description
Poggi was founded in 1940 as a family-run carpentry workshop, evolving into one of the most important Italian furniture manufacturers of the post-war period. From the 1950s onward, Poggi established a strong reputation for producing high-quality designer furniture, combining artisanal craftsmanship with industrial innovation. The company remained active until the late 2000s, leaving a lasting mark on Italian design history.
Poggi reached its golden age in the early 1950s, when its collaboration with architect Franco Albini played a decisive role in defining the company’s identity. Together, they developed iconic designs such as the “Tre Pezzi” armchair and the “Cavalletto” table, now considered masterpieces of mid-century modern Italian design. Over the decades, Poggi expanded its network of collaborations, working with leading designers and architects including Vico Magistretti, Marco Zanuso, Afra and Tobia Scarpa, and Renzo Piano. Through these partnerships, Poggi helped shape the evolution of modern Italian furniture design, producing timeless pieces celebrated for their elegance, functionality, and structural clarity.
